Melancholic and/or drone

Melancholic meditation relying on one single loop as the backbone of the entire piece. This evokes powerful emotions with so little

Frozen cold beauty. Something stood still in time. A meditation on something, perhaps beautiful, perhaps not. Lonely feelings

Pure evil energy from the droning, punctuated by pounding noises to unsettle the listener. Raspy discordant bells layer on to make the listener know they're in a truly unpleasant, otherworldly place. Feelings of death, black void, creaking noise crunch in the background to strain the listener further

FM synthesised-kinda grindy metal melody evokes a sense of coldness, sadness and isolation. Eventually turns to almost alarm-like threatening rhythm to instill unease

Crushed and lo-fi traditional instrumentation synths combined with depressive melodies instill a sense of hopelessness. Distorted, muted shrieks provide the contrast to gritted choirs providing a sense of duality

Very sad and minimal, evokes the feeling of desolation, despair, lack of hope

Very cold and desolate feeling. You're in a place where it's very quiet and very wrong. Something bad is here. Repeated notes reinforce a feeling of malevolence

Bombastic/Grandiose

Traditional orchestral instrumentations with a sense of immediate urgency and rising danger

Traditional orchestral instrumentations with a sense of immediate urgency

Facing a dangerous and cold/calculating foe. Confliction, loss of hope, trying to keep going regardless

Retro instrumentation with a more conventional sense of grandiose danger, hope, struggle, final confrontation

Growing danger with brief highly reverberated guitar (?) interludes evoking hope. Drums provide sense of progression

Fighting a large enemy with stakes on the line with a sense of escalating danger eventually plateauing out to hope that almost turns against you. A bit of a story here, where it feels like a battle charge goes wrong

Cinematic finality as something big goes down. The calm before the storm until something large scale happens. Choirs invoke a feeling of finality and emptiness

Retro emulation of classical instrumentation gives the sense of fighting something huge, albeit with a great sense of hope and determination

Chaotic/aggressive

Chaotic violence, horror and non-conventional instrumentation

Shrieking wail induces anxiety and danger, blurring the line between music and sound design

Swelling distorted grinding feels dark, ominous and highly dangerous. Bordering on almost like a Hitchcock movie, with a modern twist giving it an unsettling grit and "wrongness"

Aggressive use of "runaway train" chug to produce an overwhelming feeling of violence, with an interesting rhythm for the outro at 4:14 with use of slides and downtuned guitars to conjure up an atmosphere of human violence

Traditional organ gives way to crunchy percussion and grinding supporting layers that rise in intensity to induce anxiety, then giving way to piano interludes that almost give a sense of the balance of power shifting between 2 foes

Distorted and industrial clanging invokes feeling of confrontation, danger, sickness. Shrieked wailing reinforces already established themes

Cold synths give way to simplistic chord repetition (intro finishes at 3:13) which provides a wall of sound with driving drums evoking a feeling of grimness, finality and darkness. Repetition almost becomes hypnotic

Distorted tremolo pitch bending, simplistic driving drums and basic almost discordant guitar chords overlaid on an absolutely beautiful choir section contrasted by his vocals at 1:45 gives an amazing contrast to evoke a sense of evil and blackened majesty

LOUD DRUMS!

Beautiful orchestral sense of hope and perserverance held rigid by cacophonic blasting drums. The repetitive blast beats provide a strong sense of pressing onwards with short guitar melodies instilling a sense of danger, giving a back-and-forth feeling which may apply to a fight against a particularly powerful enemy. The snares almost feel like machine guns. I don't think blast-beats would work in GZ but who knows? :)

Chanting coming in and out feels spiralling, descending and ominous

Warbling synths and wall of sound distortion evoke feeling of evil and sickness. Repetition and crunched, strained vocals feel ethereal and unnerving. Rising tremolo guitars at 3:50 reinforce feeling of amorphous evil and dark atmosphere

Harsh distortion and wailing siren creates atmosphere of confusion and sickness, almost like being overwhelmed by something monstrous

Vibes in some way

Strange mix of upbeat sadness, perhaps a sense of longing or reflecting back upon something with regret

Discordant rhythm, morose riffs and a sense of finality with sparse synth to punctuate certain elements

80s sort of horror vibe with an intriguing melody that evokes feelings of uncertainty and mystery with a hint of sadness and beauty. Almost X-Files esque

Quiet dignity, muted sadness and intimate vocals create atmosphere of morose reflection, either on one's self or something external

Excellent feminine energy, intrigue, wonder, longing, mystique, sadness, regret with a little bit of hope
